One Thousand Years

A thousand years from this tonight
When Orion climbs the sky,
The same swift snow will still the roofs,
The same mad stars run by.

And who will know of China's war,
Or poison gas in Spain?
The dead ... they'll be forgotten, lost,
Whether they lose or gain.

Of all the brilliant strategies
Of war-lords now alive,
Perhaps a Chinese iris vase
Of porcelain may survive...

Perhaps a prayer, perhaps a song,
Fashioned of love and tears,
But only beauty, only truth,
Will last a thousand years.

Wow! That picture is gorgeous. And you're right! In a million years, who will remember all this cr*p going on today?

I think that beauty will always be here. The truth sadly, seems to fade away.

Chani, It's good to put things in perspective every once in awhile.

Isle Dance, Thanks.

Mone, It's true for the most part, isn't it?

We're Doomed, Beauty is often found in the most unexpected places. Truth I think is there too, sometimes we just need to unearth the layers to find it.

No way! Are you saying they won't be singing "Oops, I did it again" in a thousand years?

Vijay, Thanks and we certainly can.

We're Doomed, Thanks for stopping by and checking in. I've been in the middle of the fray and not had much time for sitting still and contemplating. I shall, however, be back soon.
