Small Realizations

I recently had the following snippet of a conversation with a delightful international student that I have had the privileged of knowing and working with this year. I love how the wheels in the minds of children turn as a new realization sets upon them and expands their understanding of language.

DG - Carla... (slow and ponderous) is your hair blonde?
Me - Ya, I guess you could call it blonde.
DG - Oh...
Me - Well what colour did you think it was?
DG - I thought it was yellow.
Me - Hmm... I see...

Chani, I know it's a really simple verbal exchange, but somehow it just struck me as funny.

They do say "Blonde's have more fun".

I knew I missed out - on something.

Like a scarecrow? ;-) . Language can be quite complex.

Peter, I'm sure you probably haven't missed out on much.

Dawn, Yep, and sometimes I probably look a little like a scarecrow. Language is complex.

Cute! Words have such connotations too.

Language is how we communicate with each other. What we say can be a message of many meanings. I discovered this fact by talking to women! LOL

Jannie, They really do. And by the way, I haven't forgotten about your meme.

We're doomed, Too funny.
