Hug Fest

I feel so neglectful lately. I've hardly had a chance to drop in and say hi, let alone post anything. But today, I wanted to send hugs out there to all of you. Scientists have proven that hugging slows aging, improves sleep and increases intelligence. Pretty cool, isn't it? And if that's not enough, just think of that fantastic warm and fuzzy feeling it gives you. For any of you who feel you could use some more hugs or just simply want to come and test the theory, feel free to drop by Baker street between Stanley and Ward from 11 am to 1 pm on February 14th for the annual Inspire Nelson Valentine's Hugfest. I can't think of a better way to beat those winter blues and banish the grey away. Guaranteed to make you smile.

(those are hugs, right?)

Annie, Awe, thanks. Doesn't that feel good.

JBelle, If you came, I'm sure you would be awarded the honour of hugger extraordinaire. And if you say they're hugs, indeed they are.

Early winter we accompanied our daughter to Portland's saturday market. There were some young fellows (either high school or early college) with signs. Free Hugs.

I just walked up and said sure.
Then I told him I gave him a grandma hug.

He stopped and looked at me and said, "Thanks. I really miss mine."

Would love to come and hug around :) What a cool idea, we all need some hugs sometimes, here is one for you Carla (big)

Mone said...

Sorry, I wanted to make (big) bold, but I have no idea how to close the tag. And no child around to ask, hahaha, yeez. A sign of getting old?

Gratefully received of your "Hugs"

May all who attend enjoy the happiness of sharing and caring with a smile and a hug.

I am proud to say that I hug my dogs everyday. Oh, and my husband too. Here, have a hug!

Thanks!

Hmmmm sounds like a good excuse for a quick jog up north.

That's just what I need today. I love hugs that are freely given with no strings and expectations attached. Hugs to you too.

Pamela, That's so sweet. Sounds like they were really nice boys.

Aaoiue, I had no idea. @@@@@ Many back to you.

Carla said...

Mone, Thanks for the hug. And yes, I understand. Sometimes kids know how to work these machines the best.

Peter, I am sure that it is going to be great fun.

Carla said...

We're doomed, Thanks. Much appreciated.

Rowena, And I am so sure that both your dogs and husband appreciate it.

Carla said...

Burdock Boy, Not a bad reason at all. Hope you make it.

Dawn, I hope you get lots of hugs, all with no strings attached.

Carla said...

NYD, I think you might just have to start your own hug fest. How fun would that be.

Pandave, I can see that you're heading straight for genius status.

I'd love to come but it's a bit far for me.
Perhaps I can convey a few virtual hugs (and recieve some in return).
I love the idea of a "hug fest". Have a great time!

Now, isn't that a good idea...a Hug Fest...and with so much benefit from such a simple action. If we could only convince our leaders to put down the guns and give each other a hug we might find some common ground in this ol' world.

*hugs* to you, Carla...and may everyone get their fill.

As an aside...since we're both teachers...when I taught lower primary I used to look at it as being paid to receive/give hugs. It's too bad our society is so twisted that they are considered "taboo" by the teen years when so many of them could really use them. It's a good thing they look out for each other.

Carla said...

Past First, Watch out, sending virtual hugs your way.

Fool, I do think it's a great idea. A boost for everyone involved. Wouldn't it be nice if hugs were just built into the day. A certain time, everyone just drops what they are doing and goes out and finds someone to hug. Teens really are good at looking after themselves. Well some groups are. But yes, there are always those who really, really need the hug. Hugs to you. Have a great day.

I ought to start a hug-fest here! And right now my first recipient will be my hubby, got all nice and de-stressed just thinking about it.

Fida said...

It seems we are at the same place time wise right now. Hugfest, what a lovely idea! A big hug for you and HAPPY VALENTINE!

I guess those 'hugs' have taken their toll ;)

As I popped over to see a new post - alas - none!!

Envoy-ette said...

I needed the reminder! With such a fast paced/time crunched life lately, we should stop for hugs and make the time to give them.

Steffi, Thanks. I hope you find lots of hugs in life.

VE, Let me guess...those super models just aren't that into it?

Carla said...

Chris, Hello, welcome. It is a fabulous idea.

Jannie, You certainly should. And I want to hear all about it. I'm sure it will be a fabulous success.

Carla said...

Fida, Did you make it to Hugfest? Were you in town? Pity I didn't see you to give you a hug.

Peter, It's a slow month blog wise. Just gasping for air these days.

Carla said...

Envoy-ette, I assure you, hugs make everything feel better.

Ilse Dance, It was wonderful.

Fida said...

No, I didn't make it. I would have knocked on your blog-door if I had been in the area :)

Carla said...

Fida, Well, maybe next time.
