Sleigh Bells Ring

Are you listening?

My mother lent me her beautiful antique sled for the holidays. I've filled it with fresh boughs...plenty of those around here, and put it on my front steps. I keep thinking that the bright red would look smashing against the snow. Presently we're in the middle of a snow storm so I don't dare set it out or I won't be able to find it by morning. I've had to shovel my driveway three times today. That's right, you heard me. We're going to have a white Christmas.

I had to drive home in a blizzard today. I think we are going to have an aparthied approved Christmas here too.

That sled looks like a Flexible Flyer. Is it?

Fantastic sled. Its colour it's absolutly fantastic.
Carla, please note that I've opened a new blog about these kind of matters. It's about stars and so on and has a universal language:

Have a nice day or night!

G'morning Nomad. I wax nostalgic. You're mom's pretty nice if she'll loan you such a cool sled with all that fresh snow outside. Ah. The sled of my youth...the sled of "Winter Sonnet" (R'isms). The sled my son has never experienced. We have the perfect hills and conditions for such a sled, too.

Please...ask your mom if we can borrow her sled after you...

Enjoy the snow!

NYD, I don't envy you driving in those conditions. The roads were pretty slick around here yesterday. Flexible Flyer? I'm not sure. It looks like a baby sled the way it's boxed in, and I can't find any writing indicating the make.

Aaoiue, Thanks for the link. It looks like a fantastic blog.

Fool, Yep, My mom's pretty nice. We have perfect conditions and hills here too. Remember sledding all day and then coming in soaked and rosy cheeked for hot cocoa?

Cute sled!
It sounds like you're getting a real workout shovelling snow. We got a few inches here yesterday - I'm really hoping it lasts until Christmas!

Cheryl, Luckily for most the day it was the light fluffy stuff that was falling. But up until yesterday, I was wondering if the snow was ever going to arrive.

I'm flying through Calgary so I might 'see' a white Christmas between planes. Here, its nothing more than a WET Christmas!

Yea!!- White Christmas...
Booo!!-shoveling the driveway!
At least your mom's sled can bring an instant smile!

Beautiful. I bet your whole house looks very festive! You can send some snow my way - Frau Holle is just teasing but doesn't really let go of that white stuff :-)

Pinks, Are you headed to Vancouver? If so, you might still see a white Christmas. They're in the midst of a huge snow storm and advising no one to leave their homes until it passes. You know Vancouver driving in the snow. Insane.

Envoy-ette, Now we've settled into cold...and temperatures are set to drop even further. Yea for nice warm feather duvets.

Fida, It's starting to look festive. I'll be posting more pics as I have time. The lights, the decorations, the snow...that's what makes this time of year all worth while.

Yay! Unless rain comes along and melts it all, eh? I remember than happening.

Lovely display in the sleigh!

Carla said...

Jannie, It's minus ten today, so that's not likely to happen. Yikes!

oh! but the snow in the kootenays is the best kind of snow... especially compared to the slush of the city. sigh.

Carla said...

Jeanine, Yes, the Kootenays has lovely snow, although sometimes it gets a bit slushy here too.

you just don't see sleds like that anymore.

I remember being pulled on a wooden one by my brothers

Carla said...

Pamela, Not only do you not see these anymore, they just don't make the new ones like they used to. I doubt people will be putting Crazy Carpets on their doorsteps 20 years from now.

SO gorgeous! There's nothing like the real thing... :o)

That is gorgeous!

Tara, I've really been quite pleased with it. I've since put some tiny lights in it which make it very cheery at night.

I have an old sled and it needs some new paint, like for the last 10 years since I got it. I have it in a shed, protected from the weather until it is painted. If I could just get to the project, I would have a nice sled to put out for decoration, but alas, the task eludes me.

Dawn, I guess you now have a whole year for that project. I hope to see it next year.
