I've been busy making salsa and sauce with our tomatoes so I haven't preserved any yet. I'm hoping the warm weather lasts a bit longer to at least get a few quarts done. I guess I could buy them. Seems like a heck of a deal you got.
Burdock boy, You simply have to know where the deals are. Salsa sounds good. I love fresh salsa. Wish there was a way to have that fresh flavour all year long.
Yesterday in yoga class our teacher told us that the mystic syllab AUM means creation (A), preservation (U) and dissolution (M). But in your post I feel that is also creation and dissolution, because preserving, taking care and eating is involve in the nature and life. Only preserve or only eat is unbalanced and disturbing. I like very much tomatoes. They are American as you.
Aaoiue, It's funny that tomatoes are American. I can't imagine Italian food without them. Burdock boy is right...no Canadian likes to be called American. But I'm assuming that you meant North American, so that's not so bad and since you're not from here, it's forgivable. Identity is an interesting thing here.

My mom recently spent an afternoon cutting plums and canning plum jam.
...She said it 'plum' tuckered her out!

My friend, husband and I have been out grathering blackberries, apples and damson to store through the winter months.
It's suprising how quickly this time has come round again.
