Domination

An abuser only wields power over his victim as long as she agrees to comply with her silence

Given what I've been hearing next door for the past couple of weeks, I'm beginning to agree.

Chani, Sorry to hear that situation continues. I pray for a peaceful resolution soon.

Ditto...I would only add that the pronouns can run both ways...a woman can be abusive, too. There are many forms of abuse. Best to you.

Good night and good luck

Unfortunately Mr. Fool is right.
Nice new profile-look!

Fool, Definitely the pronouns can be switched, but I had to put something down, so simply chose that which seemed most appropriate at the time.

Fuser, Thanks.

Aaouie, Yes, I know and thanks.

It is only once you realize that compliance is not compulsory that you will resolve to break free from abuse.

H'lo Nomad. My point seemed foolish and moot after posting. "But what about" shows but a lack of sympathy. I am sorry. There is a poem - of sorts - that I've just posted, and it makes for a much better response. Consider it such.

:)

So many components to these things and I don't know what exactly is happening. But if you're hearing/witnessing abuse and you can anonymously report it, please do.

Carla said...

NYD, Yes, that is exactly what I am saying.

Fool, Not at all. You are right in pointing out that abuse comes in all forms, shapes and sizes and voice should be given to all of it. I look forward to checking out your poem of sorts. :-)

Ilse Dance, You are so right and not to worry, I have a hard time holding my silence where injustice is concerned.

Now Carla...that quote implies that it is always a she that is the victim and a he that is the victimizer...

Just messin' with ya. I like the new photo. That's not really how I envision somebody looking from your neck of the woods though. You look like you've been relaxing in California or Hawaii from that photo!!!

How very true. Unfortunately not all are equipped in life to deal with the situations that arise. It is great there are others to help and support people who are lacking in abilities to fix their situations.

VE, Would love to know just how you envision someone from my neck of the woods. Perhaps that could be a post topic ;)

Dawn, Most true, most true.

Well with a raincoat and a hat most of the time...certainly not with a tan! Of course, that might just be the Pacific NW look only...

Hey, I just realized I own 90% of your favorite movies. There were only two on the list I haven't seen and don't own...and some of those are a bit oscure.

VE, You own 90% of my favorite movies? You realize that that is a good indication of how warped your humour probably is...as if I didn't already know ;-)

I agree with Dawn´s comment!That´s true!
I like your new profil pic!

THat's an Eleanor Roosevelt-like quote, too. "No one can make you feel inferior unless you give them your permission" or something very close. And I love the picture; those are such wonderful, old fashioned flowers. Looks like fall!

Carla said...

Steffi, Yes, I too think that Dawn is quite right.

JBelle, I had forgotten about that quote, but I've always liked it. It is starting to look like fall around here, and very quickly too.

Thanks Lisa. Glad you agree.
