Thin Ice

I do not praise the wisdom of men, said the Reverend, for that is not great wisdom. Now I rather try to praise the folly of men, because it's remarkable how far their folly has brought them.

These ducks (or duck) are/is making the rounds! First I saw one skating with a bunch of other webbed feet over at a Belgium blog, then I saw another hanging out with the homies in Washington State, and now I find one here.

I need to get an italian duck online...subito!

Great quote, great picture :)

I love popping in on your blog!

Rowena, Oh yes, please do find an Italian duck to post online. Now I must find these other blogs you are talking about.

Guilty, Come by anytime. You're always welcome.

I thought I heard that quote before....but it probably isn't the original:

"History shows again and again, How nature points out the folly of men, Godzilla!"
-- Blue Oyster Cult's, Godzilla

How true the quote.

Carla said...

Carrie, Thanks.

Sirdar, I think the quote is from "Paradise Regained." But I need to confirm. A little bit of a jump to Godzilla.

H'lo Nomad. Such wise words (irony - doesn't that make it wisdom?)...and from a Reverend at that. To fools and folly...

*quack*

Fool, I suppose it probably does. Yep, made me laugh.

Wow how true!

Best wishes

Now there's a duck that walks on water!

Hello Carla, interesting, but even with folly I guess we have gone a good length anyway...ops...at this point I wonder where we could have been without all that folly...
Good night and good luck.

the hubby and I were talking about the ducks we saw in the icy water -- a few days back.
Why don't their feet get cold?

Carla said...

Annie, How are you?! I hope your novel is coming along well.

VE, Now I wish I knew how to do that. But perhaps that would just be folly.

Carla said...

Fede, I think a bit of folly is good for the heart. What about you?

Pamela, Well, we don't know for sure that their feet don't get cold. Perhaps that's why they paddle so hard.

I am here dear...
;-)
Just living day by day...some lulls here and there, no big jumps ahead, no big jumps back, some surprises down the line...we all carry bags form our past, some insecurities, a lot of laughter, a kiss, a missed stop sign ticket for holding hands, some "very cold showers", but now real turning point, no real willingness to let things go. I could continue, but our friends here wouldn't understand, or indeed they would...
:-)
Fede

Fede, We always carry our past with us. Sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes not. It influences our present behaviors and teaches us patience. You have a big heart. Keep smiling.

Oh, I love, love, love the little duck. It's one little foot is twisted a little inward. It is just so cute with it's head turned that way also. The quote is wonderful too, but I love, that ducky.

Dawn, I'm so happy you like duck. I have another picture of him that I almost put up as well...perhaps I still will. He really was quite a delightful little duck.

The quote. The photo. Perfect!

That quote is so true, we learn from our follies,
Love tat kissable duck with loud orange duck feet.

Carla said...

Bohemiam girl, Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

Tracey, I'm not so sure about learning from our follies. I suppose some of us do...but then others...well, I'll have to think about that one.

What a great quote. I love those ducks. We use to have them in our yard growing up. My mom would put the left over cereal and eggs in an old pan for them and everyday the same family would come over and chow down...lol!

I've been trying to send you some warm weather...no luck tho...ohhh hum!

Mark said...

Very good! I really love this.

Carla said...

Jillie, Our weather has really been quite atrocious. And now the last week it's alternated between snow and rain...the driveway is quite the disaster. Keep trying...better weather is bound to come this way sooner or later.

Mark, The photo or the quote? ;-)
