Changes

Okay, I'm feeling the need to quantify. I guess I'm feeling a little morose lately. I think it's in part the weather, perhaps the darkness descending upon us, the rhythmic slowing down as we edge our way towards winter. But also, it's changes in my own journey through life, changes that I embrace, but also the struggle to break free and move forward, the excitement of the new, but the drain of energy to put the old to rest.

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter into another!

~Anatole France

True words. Now, was he talking going from life to heaven...or reincarnation?

Sirdar, I have no idea in what context the quote was made. I guess I have a little research homework ;-)

That is a great quote. It is always exciting to do something new, to get a new job, to move, but there is always the moving from the current place of employment or home that makes the move bittersweet. I hope you soon find peace with you change in journey and embrace the newness.

so, that is what I smell.
I thought there might be algae in the aquarium.

(oh that was so not funny, was it)

Very well quoted...but it's that image that really hits home! Rather appropriate for this month...

There's definitely something about Fall that is unsettling. The winds are wild on the East coast this time of year and they stir things up inside me. Love that quote by the way.

Namaste.

I too struggle with this at times
care to blog it out?

just keep telling yourself
Change is growth
Change is good
repeat!

Hope you don't mind if I steal that quote,
it kind of reminds me what I'm going through while I'm packing up my family home of memories,
and moving on.

Dawn, Thanks. I have found peace, but even in peace there are sometimes storms to weather.

Pamela, I made me laugh. Thanks.

Rowena, I too thought the image appropriate for the month / time of year.

Bohemian girl, The winds are wild here too. Kind of make me feel that way too. Glad you like the quote.

Tracy, Please do grab the quote...and I'll keep repeating, "change is good." Good luck with the packing.

If we trust in the process of our journey I don't beleive there is a reason for melancholy. Change is a time for joy in the newness.
True, we must die to live.

Mark, the meloncoly was more because of the dreary weather. Yes, am embracing the changes.

H'lo Nomad. Change is good...change is good...change is good ('effen difficult at times, but...), change is good....change is good...change is good. Best in transitioning to you...

Carla...I know just how you feel!! Even though fall is my favorite season, it's tough getting use to the shorter days and getting up when it's dark out, getting home when it's dark out. But...then spring will be right around the corner only to have everything rejuvinate ;o)

Carla said...

Fool, Yes, indeed...my new mantra.

Jillie, Whoa! I don't want spring to come too quickly otherwise life will just be passing me by.

Love that quote.

I hope you're feeling brighter soon.

Carla said...

Beccy, Feeling more optimistic already. I just have a lot on my plate right now.

Though-provoking thoughts from yourself and Anatole in this post, Carla.

It's been a summer of transition for me - the relocation and rethink has been very positive...

I wish you well in your own journey.

I don't know Carla, you're looking a tad bit thin there in that picture. I suggest Pop Tarts and Mountain Dew; that should do it.

I live on a street named after Anatole France - he was a very wise man.

Carla said...

Winters, well, lots of rethink for me and perhaps relocation as well. We'll see. Glad the changes have been good for you.

VE, On my way to the store right now. Do you think it would be okay if I substituted those Pop Tarts for dark chocolate?

Carla said...

Steffi, Truth be told, I like this time of year as well. I've been thinking I need to take some photos soon before all the leaves are gone.

Paris Parfait, he was a wise man indeed.

one is always enlightened by such quotations - and worthy of reflection.

You capture the scene beautifully and how right of the "changes"...
