Advice

...my father has given to fabulously successful females ... as told to me by a former colleague.
  1. Ask for help.
  2. Be a bitch.

I've started doing the former.

And the latter I reserve for only those very closest to me.

Jannie, And I try not to do the latter to those close to me. But I think it's all about standing up for yourself and getting what you need.

Well, that was fast!

Glad to "meet" you.

Isn't Nelson the cannibis capital of the world, or soemthign liek that? (See, being brave and not correcting!)

First off, that picture is the most gorgeous picture I've seen in my LIFE!
Second, at 43, I'm going through the bitch phase right now. I don't seem to mind it that much!

Interesting advice, Nomad. I'm going to have to mull this one over.

Jannie, Yep, something like that. Apparently the stuff grows really well around here... Great to "meet" you as well. Drop by anytime.

Envoy-ette, Isn't beautiful!!! I truly live in paradise.

Fool, Think it over as long as you like. Let me know if I need to add anything.

Nice picture and your father can be proud to you.

Fool, Upon reflection, context is important. One must always take the situation in which something is said into consideration. Does anything ever truly stand alone?

VE, You? I can't imagine.

Steffi, Thanks, I'm glad you like the photo.

Never had a problem with doing either. Seems to be working for me so far!

Now about the gecko in the coffee pot. He scooted like a bat out of hell when my father tossed him and the coffee outside. I am just so glad that I saw him first before things got ugly!

Carla said...

Rowena, That's so funny about the gecko. I'm just happy that no one was having to pull that little guy out of their teeth.

Almost a contradiction. Can you ask for help AND be a bitch? Perhaps you can, but then will someone actually help you?

Love the photo.

Carla said...

Debbie, It's all a matter of context. It was very much situational and my father would never recommend that one be the latter without reason or cause...but on occasion, it's good to be a battle axe.

Nice capture! :)

That photo made me miss the Kootenays. Such a magical place. *sigh* As for the words... sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do :)

Children's Nursery, Thanks for dropping by. Glad you like the snap.

Jeanine, It truly is beautiful here. Love it!!! As for your comment, yes, indeed.

I don't know how bitchy I can get, but most times my wife thinks I'm a downright bastard.

Asking for help is easy. Getting what you need is the hard part.

Carla said...

NYD, I guess getting what you need is the important part, isn't it?

Very wise words, I think.
As broken nails and sore hands from carrying things too heavy for me are proof - i don't ask for help often enough.
and, well, i hope that if the word is ever used about me in a sentence, the sentence goes - that pandave had no choice but to be a bitch, but it really got things done.
right?

Carla said...

Pandave, And you do strike me as a girl who can really get things done. More power to you.

I think I have met some of those successful women;-).

Carla said...

Dawn, I think you're probably quite successful yourself.

This is great. I shall take this advice.

gontour said...

Excellent. I shall do the same :D

Carla said...

Gontour, Welcome. I'm sure this advice will take you far. Let me know.

Girl on Tour, I wondered if that was you ;-). Too funny.
