The Sinking

Oh, for goodness sakes Otto, what are you going on about now? Would you get down off of that soap box. We have more pressing matters to deal with these days, you know. And quit staring off into the horizon. You make me nervous when you get that strange look in your eyes.

Hard to imagine what he might have been thinking about up there.. or what he might have been thinking about when he was standing for it.

Odd thought. :)

Hi Nomad. I think I need a history lesson...which Otto is this? (somehow my mind is clicking on WWI...but really - I'm clueless). Looks like I have some catching up to do...

I knew a guy who had eyebrows like that.

I wonder if they could just brush them out and over their head -- like a comb-over dude.. heh heh

Fool, This would be Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898). He was Prussia's prime minister and later Germany's first chancellor. He is most noted for being directly responsible for the unification of Germany...master statesman and politician. One of the most famous German battleships in world war II was named after him. The warship's primary claim to fame took place during the battle of the Denmark strait in 1941 where she sunk the pride of the Royal navy within several minutes. In response, Winston issued the order to "Sink the Bismarck," which is exactly what happened a few days later.

Annie, As usual, you are much too kind.

VE, And if he did??

Carla said...

Pamela, That would pretty much eliminate the guy's forehead now, wouldn't it?

Thanks for the history lesson in comments. I wasn't sure exactly who it was either. I have heard of the Bismarck though and now I know of it's origin.

Carla said...

Dawn, Yep, Bismarck was big stuff in German history...actually European history.
