Fantastical Menagerie

This wonderful collection of someone's bizarre imaginings was found on a peaceful street in Konstanz. Each piece was so expressive as if it came with its own history and stories. I would have loved to have known what they were, but despite my long repose under the comforting shade of the nearby trees, not a one was willing to part with his secrets. Not this time.

Very beautiful pictures again,Carla! I love to see always your nice pics of your journeys!

These are just beautiful! Now I know that Italy has more than its fair share of sculptures, statues, fancy water fountains and whatnot, but looking at your photos gives me...I dunno...food for thought?

Speaking of food ;-) -- forgive me if my food obsessions torment you in any way. Should you ever get the chance to try a zeppola, you won't be disappointed. With the combination of fried stuff and sweet cream, one can never go wrong!

I like statues; you get to put your own ideas into what they are or were doing and thinking.

Steffi, Thanks, I enjoy taking the pictures and the travels.

Rowena, Not to worry, I love food just as well as anyone else. The zeppola sounds delicious. I will keep on the lookout for it.

VE, It's great entertainment, isn't it?

You know what I immediately though when I saw your pictures?
I though about other characters that are so well defined to appear gigantic creatures...each of them precisely defined and autonomous, yet the ensemble they belonged to was in harmony. And it all worked out well until the end...still we haven't understood everything yet, there is still something missing here. Something that we couldn't figure out for sure. Do I know what I am talking about? And...most importantly, do you know? Just in case, as a remainder:
"Call it!"
Good night and good luck.

Fede, I think I kind of get what you mean, but you're being a little cryptic.

Yes I know...and I like it. Every once in a while...

That would be very interesting to see the expressive figures in the trees on the street.

Fede, Yep, I understand.

Dawn, It really was something to happen upon them. A very pleasant surprise.

Pandave, Don't you just love fabulous finds?

Dear Carla!

I´m from the Austrian alps and my little daughter is also called "Carla". I love the name, I think it´s special, for special people.
You find pictures of her in my blog, if you like (maybe in the archieve of february).
Thank you for your little story about the name!

oooo, I love them particulary the last one of the older gentleman with the steering wheel. I love his warmth.
Thank you for sharing.

Bernadette, Welcome and thanks for dropping by. In my experience, all the Carla's I've met have been very nice people, so I'm sure your daughter is lovely. I will check out your blog shortly.

Carla, I'm not quite sure why, but from when I first set eyes upon him, I had the feeling that the old fellow in the pool was contemplating his next chess move. He seems so friendly, but at the same time deep in thought.

They are definitely a bit different. It would be interesting to know the stories behind them. Hope you find out and tell us one day.

Sirdar, You can be sure that if I hear of any behind the scenes stories on these statues, there will be a post on them.

How often creative images can reflect our own self.

Certainly the owner has an abundance of knowledge hidden deep within - as each sculpture depicts.

Great photo's of each too..

Peter, That is most certainly true. I guess because our creativity comes from from within ourself.

I have come back here a dozen times this week to see these pictures; they are fabulous! But no stories....

:(

Maybe they're even better because of that, though....

Carla said...

Pdx Pup, Thanks for dropping in. I think I like these statues cloaked in a bit of mystery, that way every time I see them I can come up with a new story.

These statues are so expressive. I did a search on statuary in Konstanz after seeing your pics...and it seems Konstanz boasts quite a bit of it. It's a beautiful place.

Please share more...

Fool, Yes, Konstanz is a very beautiful place. These were my favorite statues that I ran across, but I do have another post about Konstanz that's been knocking around in my head. I'll try to get it out.
