The Dragon's Den

I have been caught in the jaws of hell, just out of reach of the dragon's ferocious bite, but not beyond his fiery breath. My heart has been scorched. I have fallen off the edge of the precipice, but I no longer know if I jumped or if I was pushed...

Great photos; great words. Your posts would make a good coffee table book, with photos and a few words to evoke the thoughts of the reader.

What can one say, your powerful writing together with the photos express an inner sense captivated by visualisation.

Hi Annie, I don't know the age of the dragons. There are dragons all over China. The bottom picture was taken at the Forbidden Palace so it's probably fairly old and the top picture I really have no idea. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Dawn, You are very kind. Thanks for dropping in.

Peter, Thank you. I definitely enjoy taking the pictures and just occasionally I come up with something a little off beat to put with them.

Very powerful, Nomad. The economy of words, and the depth of meaning contained in them is amazing. I especially like your closing - "...but I no longer know if I jumped or if I was pushed..."
Very thought provoking...and I think many people can relate. The photos are a perfect complement. Have a great Sunday!

Wow. Powerful words coupled with powerful images.

Fool, A happy father's day to you! I hope you get to enjoy your day. Glad you enjoyed the post...but the title of ultimate word whiz must be bestowed upon you.

Wow. What a statue. Very interesting.

Hi Carla, in the second picture, they look like they are playing. Which is a contrast with the words your wrote. The last sentence is really thought provoking.
Good night and good luck.

Made me sad...are you okay?

Carla said...

Sirdar, Yes, the statues are very intriguing. Very different from what we tend to see in Canada. Much more ornate.

Fede, Indeed, the two could be playing. But with creatures such as dragons, it's hard to tell. One minute it's a game and the next, one is lunch. Such is life with a dragon. Throw that into your ruminations.

JBelle, You are most astute. If I were there, I am now out of such clutches. Thanks for asking.

Reminds of the way those things often made me feel in Thailand, too. Glad you are out of the clutches now.

Steffi, Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Chani, It's true, they can give you a bit of an eerie feeling, can't they?

Powerful thoughts. We have all been there. I love the thought of, was I pushed or did I jump, in the end does it matter?

Carla said...

Rowena, Thanks. I also very much enjoy your photos and hearing of your adventures.

Tracy, You are most kind. Did you check out the food video down below? I think you would appreciate it.

Carla said...

Trella, Thanks. How is your unpacking coming?

Mark, Thought provoking question. In the end, indeed, it probably doesn't matter. Thanks for stopping in.

I LOVE dragons! I wonder why the Chinese are so fascinated with them?

Debbie, Sorry...somehow your comment got lost in the fray of things. I only just realized it when I logged onto blogger and discovered I had a comment that had not been moderated.

I jumped and landed on the dragons back, who flew and took me to see new worlds :)

(Hope that makes sence)

Carla said...

Mone, Makes perfect sense...and if the dragon is friendly enough, why not.

It's an amazing picture and then when you see the second one it looks more like play than anything else.

Love the words as well as the photos.

As always...great job!

Carla said...

Dan, Oh boy...I'm responding to everyone in a messed up order. I have no idea, but they are rather cool creatures if you can stand the heat.

Jillie, Thanks. The second picture could be play if those claws weren't so large.
