Waiting for the Bus
Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite. Or waiting around for Friday night or waiting perhaps for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil or a better break or a string of pearls or a pair of pants or a wig with curls or another chance. Everyone is just waiting. ~Dr. Seuss

Or maybe she's got gas....lmao.
Sorry...I just couldn't resist!
:o)
Yep, everyone seems to be waiting for something, and often what they want and need is right at hand. The thought fits the day. Thank you.
hey!
This is tough my friend.
Well, it is almost impossible to say where you exactly took the picture. For the choice of clothes I would say she is from the north. She can be my untie. Same coat. From the 70's or 80's. She looks like middle class because of the way she is combed.
But it is very little, I know. I tried.
;-)
Good night and good luck.
Jillie, I'm going to have to start calling you Jillie bean. You are just so silly.
Fool, We often spend so much time waiting for just the right moment, or until we have enough information etc that we allow life to pass us by and miss countless opportunities. Thanks for your take.
JBelle!!!!! I've missed you! Are you back?
How very true - the waiting philosophy.
Such times can be reflective.
Peter, yes, indeed they can.
LOL..it's all part of my character...I just couldn't resist that one! Can you tell I have brothers?
Jillie, Sometimes I'm the same way, and I can't even use brothers as an excuse.
I love those kinds of photographs and the quote you chose to go with it is perfectly poignant.
Technical question: I am the most “amateurest” of amateurs when it comes to photography, but I try on occasion to capture this type of moment. However, I find that as soon as I zoom in on someone they look up at me. Then the moment is ruined. Did you ask this lady first or just quickly snap the shot?
Hi Debbie, No, I didn't ask this woman's permission. I find that overall for shots like this switching over to automatic focus is best...it's faster. Try to look like you're pointing the camera somewhere else until you are absolutely ready for the shot. Sometimes though, it is impossible to be quick enough. That's just the way the cookie crumbles.
Fede, Sorry your comment didn't appear earlier...but at least you no longer need to wonder if it was posted elsewhere.
I knew this would be a tough one as there is really no indication in the picture. It was actually taken in Rome, but the woman could indeed be from elsewhere. Thanks for your insight. Ciao.
What a great post to go with the picture.
Thanks Trella!
hehe, to Jillies comment,
great post Carla, ox
Yeah...like waiting to use the public restroom, waiting to get a real person on the support line, waiting to actually see a doctor at the emergency room, waiting for that traffic light to change. Even when you don't want to wait you wait. (I get paid by how many times I use the word 'wait'; it's a corporate sponsorship thing...)
Tracy, Thanks! Ya, Jillie got me laughing too.
Variant E, And I sure would like to get me some of that kind of corporate sponsorship. I guess I will just have to wait.
Very great post and I find your picture a little bit sad to see.But it´s a good snap shot.
yum, yum, yum! Love the look of the blog--LOVE IT. And love the post. Somehow, maybe it is my imagination, I can feel you waiting too....
Had a *lovely* time catching up on your posts.
Steffi, Perhaps in that moment the woman looked a bit pensive, but she was having a chat with the fellow beside her and actually they looked to be having a very good conversation.
JBelle, Yes, the look is much cleaner than before, isn't it? And perhaps, just perhaps, there are a few things that I am waiting for. Thanks for stopping by.
Great picture! Jillie's comment was a hoot... but I was thinking "The Thinker".
Maybe The Thinker had gas. :)
Peace,
~Chani
I just wonder where she is going or who she is waiting for.
It's the sort of picture one could write a short story to.
Best wishes
Annie
Chani, That's a good one! Now every time I see the Thinker, I will view it very differently.
Annie, She's an interesting study, isn't she? If we let our imagination go, I'm sure we could come up with endless possibilities.
