Deceleration

Most men pursue pleasure with such breathless haste that they hurry past it.

Oh my, Baddie is the absolute worst for this! I mean, we are all guilty of it, but he is terrible! I must tell him about this quote... thank you :)

how true not only for men also for women. Hi, I'm back for now :)

Willheim, Welcome. Not the response I was expecting from a male...I was expecting to get a bit more flack. But there must be some truth in the statement.

Guilty, Let me know what his response it...I'm curious.

Carla said...

Mone, Yes, that could be true. How nice to see you back.

Hmmm. Yes. That's true. It has to be bigger to be recognized by most, especially those trained to believe bigger is inherently better.

Chani, We have so many false assumptions, don't we. I wonder how we ever got to buying into these beliefs.

Many fish bite if you got good bait...I'm a-goin' fishin...

I sense a lure...the bait of a metaphor slipping through the waters. Ah, the slippages and displacements on the terms men and pleasure in the pond of mythology of gender. heh heh. The tones of allure.

To take the bait, or not? Or something else?

With no belief in time, I have never been accused of hurry...so I'll just swim away from what seems a double bind to pond-er things.

Happy Tuesday. Be sure to take the time to enjoy the pleasures, Nomad. Nice quote.

:)

The title of the post is "Deceleration" and from that perspective I appreciate the quote, taking men in a gender neutral "mankind" sense. Beyond that, I must agree with the fool that I, as a man (gender specific) could quickly find myself in deep, murky water by taking the bait. That said...SPLASH!!!!...if I succeed in my pursuit, I linger...

ah yes... breathe in, breathe out.

also, i tagged you carla!

Fool, You're far too quick to get caught in a trap but I had a feeling that you would enjoy the metaphor. And I am quite certain that you would be the sort to take the time to enjoy the "pleasures" life has to offer. It's great to not be driven by time...isn't it?

Randy, I think the quote is something that we all could apply to many areas of our lives. I believe that (talking men and women here) many of us have gotten so used to being pressured by "speed" in which "things" need to happen that we forget to actually live. I think many of us need to get back to the basics and that starts with having a life.

Carla said...

Mark, Quality before quantity all the way.

Sirdar, Yep, could be.

Carla said...

Pandave, I will be over shortly to check it out. Thanks for the heads up.

I agree with all: That is so true!

Carla said...

Steffi, Many people certainly seem to feel the same way.

I have to keep reminding, STAY IN THE MOMENT....Or you'll miss the beauty in front of you.
Its the human condition.

VE, I was waiting for someone to notice that. Glad I can count on you to pick up on those really important details.

Carla said...

Tracey, It really certainly is. I remind myself the same thing all the time. Thing is, it's been a crazy week.

Truer words were never spoken. Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours!

Carla said...

Hi Tara, In this age of speed it certainly seems that we rarely take the time needed to slow down and truly enjoy ourselves. Wishing you a slow relaxed Valentine's day with the one you love.

I couldn't have said it better myself!

Happy Valentines Day Carla ;o)

Carla said...

Thanks Jillie, and right back at ya.

I agree. An analogy would be dogs when eating a new food, do they taste it at all.

JBelle said...

I do that, too. Gotta savor each bite and cherish every memory.

Carla said...

Dawn, Well said. I've wondered that myself.

JBelle, Have you read the book, "In Praise of Slow," by Carl Honore?

Indigo, I hear you. Sometimes my vacations are more rushed than my regular life. But I'm working on it.

Carrie, I'm glad you like the photo. It was a very beautiful spot, indeed.
